Maureen Sullivan - 'Light in Winter'

Thursday 15th January to Wednesday 25th February

In the dormant days of Winter, light and colour can lift the spirits and remind us of the Spring to come. Maureen's stained glass pictures and sculptures will help to brighten the darkness. She depicts spiritual aspects of the Earth, the Moon, the Sun, trees, angels, Celtic crosses, boats, water, flowers and nature, using crystals, mosaic, and beach-combed glass.

Elmley Castle Art Class - '15 into 8'

Thursday 29th January to Wednesday 18th February
The class was formed 8 years ago with 20 members in response to local interest. There was a desire to improve painting skills and techniques and they were fortunate to enlist the services of Malcolm Brookes A.T.D, R.B.S.A,R.cam.A, who has guided them through a wide ranging syllabus, indoors during autumn and winter and out of doors during the summer. Membership includes professional and semi-professional artists but most members are enthusiastic amateurs.Event details »

Based on Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel, Nights in Rodanthe stars Diane Lane as Adrienne Willis; a woman with her life in chaos who retreats to the tiny coastal town of Rodanthe, North Carolina, to tend to a friend's inn for the weekend. Young@Heart, a New England Senior Citizen Chorus, delights audiences worldwide with covers of songs by everyone from The Clash to Coldplay.  As Stephen Walker's documentary begins, the retirees, led by a demanding musical director, are rehearsing their new show, struggling with a discordant Sonic Youth number and giving meaning to James Brown's "I Feel Good".  What ultimately emerges is a funny and unexpectedly moving testament to friendship, creative inspiration, and reaching beyond expectations.  A truly heart-warming and inspiring film.
