Friday 2nd January to Saturday 3rd JanuarySidney Young (Simon Pegg) is a disillusioned intellectual who both adores and despises the world of celebrity, fame and glamour. His alternative magazine, Post Modern Review, pokes fun at media obsessed stars and bucks trends, and so when Young is offered a job at the conservative New York based Sharps Magazine its something of a shock! It seems Sharps editor Clayton Harding is amused by Young's disruption of a post-BAFTA party with a pig posing as Babe. Thus begins Sidney's descent into success - his gradual move from derided outsider to confidante of starlet Sophie Maes - and a love affair with colleague Alison Olsen that will either make him or break him.

Brideshead Revisited is a poignant story of forbidden love and the loss of innocence prior to the Second World War. Filmed on location at Castle Howard and in the charming cities of Venice and Oxford, the film is worth seeing for the richness of the costumes, set designs and excellent performances from Emma Thompson and Michael Gambon.

Thursday 15th January 2009In 1974 Philippe Petit committed one of the world's greatest ‘art crime' stunts walking across a tightrope strung between the then unfinished World Trade Center towers. James Marsh's inspiring documentary
Man on Wire tells artist Philippe Petit's story from his early days as an aspiring performer of circus arts, through to his wire walks between the towers of Notre Dame, across the Sydney Harbour Bridge and culminating in the lengthy planning and execution of his famous World Trade Center high-wire stunt. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2008.
