Pershore Heritage Centre - 'Victorian Pershore'

Wednesday 10th September to Tuesday 21st October

Whilst Pershore is known nationally as a Georgian town of great importance, each age has obviously left its mark. During the sixty-four years of Victoria's reign, Pershore, along with almost everywhere else in the country, expanded and progressed, probably as never before. The age saw immense improvements in the life of the ordinary person with great advancements in the fields of education, medicine, travel and government. A workhouse was established that, although bearing the dreaded name, cared for its inmates to an unusually high standard and the cottage hospital came into being. Whilst the main output locally continued to be horticultural and agricultural (particularly following the discovery of the wild plum in Tyddesley Woods) light industry came to the town in the form of the Atlas Works, Beech's jam factory and with the coming of the railway. We hope our exhibition will serve as a reminder of all that was accomplished here in Pershore during the Victorian period.

Craft Exhibitions are open Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm
